Lauren Smith has produced one of her best performances of WBBL|02 to help guide the Sydney Sixers to a 12-run win over the Perth Scorchers.
The win moves the Sixers two points clear at the top of the table, with finals quickly approaching.
Smith took figures of 2/23 from her 4 overs, including the important wicket of Katherine Brunt, who she removed with a spectacular caught and bowled for 20 in the 14th over.
"I usually don’t take those catches off my own bowling, so it was a bit of a shock, but yeah it was really good,” Smith said about the classic grab.
After taking 3/16 in the Sixers previous match against the Adelaide Strikers, Smith has announced herself as one of the most dangerous bowlers in the competition.
But for Smith it’s just about making contributions for the Magenta.
“I feel like I have to do something as I am batting down the order a bit, so I want to give back to the team, and I try and do that in the field and with my bowling as well.
"It’s really good to get a few wickets here and there.”
Smith will be looking to add to her tally of seven wickets for the competition when the Sixers take on the Scorchers in the second leg of their double-header tomorrow at the SCG.
