Ashleigh Gardner is one of the brightest young cricketing talents in the state, as evidenced by her selection in the Shooting Stars Squad (Australia ‘A’) following the 2014/15 domestic season.
At age 19, she is already accomplished with both bat and ball, and is developing a reputation for her big hitting which makes her a handy signing for the Magenta side of Sydney.
She featured regularly in the victorious NSW Breakers team that clinched this year’s Women’s National Cricket League Title.
Hailing from Picnic Point and of Indigenous heritage, Ash entered the history books in 2016 when she captained the first national Indigenous women’s cricket team, and went on to tour India with the squad. She also became the first woman to win the prestigious Lord Taveners Indigenous Cricketer of the Year Award in 2014/15. .
