Meet the team behind the scenes

Shipperd was appointed as Sixers Head Coach in August of 2015. He joined the Sixers as one of Australia’s most successful domestic coaches, with highlights including four Sheffield Shield titles with Victoria, as well as one National One-Day Cup in 2010/11 and four KFC Twenty20 Big Bash titles. Alongside his 10 year career with Cricket Victoria, Shipperd has also served as head coach for IPL side Delhi Daredevils and the Big Bash League's Melbourne Stars.

As a player, Shipperd played 112 first-class matches for Western Australia and Tasmania. Over his lengthy career he scored 6806 runs with an impressive average of 42.27, including 15 100s and 34 50s. Although he never played a test for Australia, he was part of two rebel tours to South Africa in 1985-86 and 1986-87.

In November 2015, the Sixers announced Ben Sawyer as the inaugural coach for the Sixers WBBL side. Prior to his appointment as head coach of the Sydney Sixers WBBL, Sawyer served as assistant for the NSW Breakers from 2011-2015, helping the side secure a record ten straight Women’s National Cricket League titles.

Last year Sawyer led the Sydney Sixers WBBL to ten consecutive wins and the final in the inaugural WBBL season, only to suffer a heartbreaking loss to cross-town rivals Sydney Thunder. Sawyer has kept a similar squad for WBBL|02 with the hope of going one better than last year.
