The Sydney Sixers are committed to the inclusion of transgender and gender diverse people from community to elite level sport. In developing the following strategy, the club has reaffirmed its social responsibility to encourage others to be themselves, supporting clubs and associations to welcome and include those from diverse backgrounds, and host Pride themed women’s and men’s Big Bash League games to highlight the importance of inclusion to the wider community. Working closely with LGBT Charity Proud2Play, the following plan has been devised for the 2019-20 season:

Rainbow Families Come and Try Event

70 kids from Rainbow Families are expected to enjoy a clinic and activities as provided by the Sydney Sixers on November 9 as part of the Rainbow Families Kids Resilience Camp at Narrabeen. • Potential to increase number of volunteers
  • Opportunity to be part of the first pilot program of its kind in NSW
  • Be known as a hub for diversity and inclusion – Safe Spaces sticker to be provided

Pride Party WBBL

  • Official invitation to Rainbow Families to enjoy the first ever WBBL Pride Party, demonstrating the clubs commitment across its womens and mens squads.
  • Expect to see the ground filled with rainbow flags and messaging!

  • Provide tips and tools to engage participation of LGBT people in clubs.
  • Proud2Play will provide a guest speaker to present on best practice and open questions from the community.
