Sixers squad named for BBL|10 decider

The stage is now set for the fourth BBL Final between the Sixers and the Scorchers.

After defeating the Scorchers by nine wickets in The Qualifier at Canberra’s Manuka Oval, just under a week ago, the Sixers meet Perth again following their win over Brisbane Heat on Thursday.

Speaking to the media at the SCG, Sixers inspirational captain Moises Henriques said it felt like the right result for the Final.

“We’ve both rightly earned our position in this final (finishing top two on the table),” said Henriques.

Henriques and Sixers speedster Sean Abbott joined the defending champions late in the tournament due to Test duty with the Australian squad.

The Scorchers lead the head-to-head in ‘Finals’ with victories over the Sixers in BBL|04 and BBL|06. The Sixers prevailing in BBL|01 under the captaincy of Steve Smith.

As the tournament reaches its crescendo, Henriques praised the contributions of everyone involved to complete the tournament in full.

“I feel like everyone within our squad, whether it’s the staff, the players, the administrators, and even Cricket Australia to be able to get all the games in during this BBL… during these times that we’ve had (with the COVID-19 pandemic), it’s been a pretty special effort.”

The Sixers squad will be trimmed to 13 players and the final 11 announced at the bat flip.

During the week, Josh Philippe was named Player of the Tournament for BBL|10 with 499 runs from 15 matches as well as 15 catches behind the stumps.
