Sixers sign Carlos Brathwaite
Brathwaite, who played a part in the Thunder’s win over the Sixers last season at the SCG, will pull on the magenta and look to get the Club back in the winners' circle in the second half of the season.
Having played 25 T20 International matches and 101 T20 Domestic matches, the experienced 29-year-old will add some much needed batting and bowling firepower to the team.
He arrives in from New Zealand after a three match T20 International series for the West Indies.
Sixers coach Greg Shipperd said Brathwaite was an excellent addition to the squad.
“The Sixers are looking forward to West Indian T20 captain Carlos Brathwaite joining the squad for our remaining matches after tomorrow’s match against the Hobart Hurricanes,” he said.
“Carlos’ all-round skills will be welcomed, his power hitting and wily medium pace, and dynamic fielding all go to make him a precious resource in this format.”
Sixers General Manager Dom Remond said Brathwaite added some star power for the remainder of the Big Bash.
“We are very excited to have Carlos join the Sixers family,” he said.
“He is a world class T20 player and a fabulous entertainer. We are looking forward to him adding the wow factor for our Members and fans at the SCG for the Sydney Smash.”
Brathwaite and fellow International replacement will join the Sixers on their return from Hobart and be available for the Sydney Smash against the Thunder at the SCG on Saturday 13 January.
