Perry excited by Scorchers challenge

03 February 2018

Sydney Sixers captain Ellyse Perry is excited by the challenge the Perth Scorchers will present her side when the two outfits clash in Sunday’s WBBL Big Final at the Adelaide Oval.

The fixture is a rematch of last season’s decider, in which the Sixers came out victorious.

“It’s really fitting that we’re playing Perth again,” Perry said.

“They play an outstanding brand of cricket and they’ve got some exceptional players in their squad.

“We’ve had some great tussles and we obviously played them in the Final last year, so we’re looking forward to the challenge.”

The Sixers have lost both encounters with the Scorchers in WBBL|03 and Perry is determined to get one back when it matters most.

“We’ve probably struggled against them this year, so it’s a great test to come up against them in the final and have another crack,” Perry said.

“We’ll tweak and adjust things here and there, but it’s probably more about playing well to the conditions and doing what we do well.”

Perry said that while the Sixers were carrying positive momentum into the fixture following their semi-final win over the Strikers on Friday, it was important to reset and refocus ahead of the Big Final.

“Yesterday was really pleasing and there were some exception individual performances as well, which was nice to see,” Perry said.

“A big thing in this competition is momentum, but I think once you get to the Finals, you’ve just got to turn up on the day and play well.”
