Last five games played between the two sides: SIXERS 4, THUNDER 1
Last time they met: A 27-ball 49 from Alyssa Healy led the Sixers to a comfortable four-wicket win.
The Thunder skipper has been in seruous nick this tournament, and her half century in this fixture back in week one was classy. She is the rock of the Thunder order, and will look to bat deep.
The Aussie captain has had an incredible tournament to date, with four half centuries in eight knocks. Handy striking. She’ll feast on anything short, and her partnership with Blackwell will be instrumental.
The WBBL’s leading wicket taker just knows how to strangle poles. She credits it to “other bowlers applying pressure,” but we don’t believe her – we reckon she’s pretty good… She has 11 wickets in BBL|03, and will be looking to add to that tally on Saturday.
Her hundred in round 1 was breathtaking, and she is the cleanest ball striker in the WBBL. An untimely concussion curtailed her momentum a few weeks ago, however she’s back and firing – and will look to go big money against her cross town rivals.
What they said:
Speaking on Friday, Ellyse Perry recognised the importance of the top of the table clash.
“There’s a great rivalry between these two teams, and we tend to have good matches when we play.”
“The girls reach a new level for this fixture, even before the game. It’s noticeable how big the contest is.”
“It’s about which team turns up on the day and plays better cricket. You can do all the preparation you want through the week, but it’s up to us to go out and execute.”
