Edwards goes big against the England Lions

18 February 2020

Emerging Sixers batsman Jack Edwards has fallen eight runs short of a double century for the Cricket Australia XI against the England Lions at Blundstone Arena, Hobart.

Despite not being a First Class fixture, Edwards' 192 surpassed his previous best at that level, his maiden century of 101 last season against Tasmania, at the SCG, in his third Sheffield Shield match for the NSW Blues.

The England Lions is the equivalent of the Australia A team.

Edwards, 19, came to the crease at 4/173 on day three of the four-day match and was 142 not out overnight. The Cricket Australia XI posted 546 in reply to 8/613 declared.

He was dismissed not long before lunch on Tuesday. The 19-year-old right-hander reached the boundary 14 times during his 272 balls at the crease.

Edwards made his Sixers debut last season as an 18-year-old and played four matches during the BBL|09 championship campaign.
