The 29-year-old English seamer has played two T20 Internationals, 18 One-Day Internationals and four Tests for his country. He has 89 Twenty20 wickets to his name at an average under 24.
“I got out of quarantine on Christmas Day, so I’ve managed to get a few training sessions. It’s been really good to be honest to start with,” Ball said.
“It’s my first time at the Big Bash and just really looking forward to getting going now.”
Ball was a key figure in Nottinghamshire’s winning run to the Vitality Blast title – England’s premier domestic T20 competition - this year, in a side captained by another Sixers recruit, Dan Christian.
“It’s always good to play with Dan. He’s pretty much a Notts player now he’s been there now for six or seven years.”
Ball joins fellow Englishman James Vince and West Indian star Carlos Brathwaite as the three internationals currently in the Sixers squad.
The Sixers will be seeking to make it five straight wins when they take on the Heat at the Gabba on Saturday.
v. Brisbane Heat
12 matches. 10 wins and two losses (one of those wins came in the BBL|06 Semi-Final at the Gabba)
It will be a quick back up for the Sixers with their next match against the Strikers on Sunday back at Gold Coast’s Metricon Stadium where the men in magenta completed two remarkable final over victories in the last week.
v. Adelaide Strikers
13 matches. 8 wins, 5 losses (the Sixers won the clubs’ first encounter of BBL|10 by 38 runs at Blundstone Arena in Hobart)
The Sixers' squad will be trimmed to 13 players and the final 11 announced at the bat flip.
Of this squad, Jake Ball, Nick Bertus and Tom Rogers are yet to make their Sixers debut.
