Lambton Swingers win Newcastle Sixers Smash

Lambton Swingers were crowned champions of the Sixers Smash event held at Jesmond Park, Newcastle on Sunday the 19th of November.

The Sixers Smash event was held in partnership between the University of Newcastle Cricket Club and the Sydney Sixers to engage with local and international students. Three teams took part in the rescheduled Sixers Smash competition.

Lambton Swingers played Hunter 8 in the final. Hunter 8 were favourites as they had defeated the Lambton Swingers comfortably in the round games. However the Lambton Swingers lifted for the final, batting first they scored 82 in their 7 overs. The game came down to the last over with Hunter 8 needing 10 runs to win.

Lambton Swingers held their nerve and were crowned champions. The Lambton Swingers are known to dominate tape ball cricket and are excited to travel to Sydney to join the other Sixers Smash winners for the finals. The Lambton Swingers will join winners from University of Wollongong (Gong Strikers), UNSW (Dothrakis) and Macquarie University (Friends CC) to compete for the championship title this Sunday the 26th of November at LM Graham Reserve, Manly. 

Several international students were also selected to take part in the Cricket NSW/Sydney Sixers internship program.

The Finals of the Sixers Smash will take place on Sunday 26th November
