Marizanne Kapp has bettered her personal best WBBL score, making an unbeaten 55, and claimed three wickets at North Sydney Oval on Wednesday evening but it was not enough to stop the Hobart Hurricanes.

Sixers vs Hurricanes - WBBL|05 Game 39 - Match Highlights

The Hurricanes chased down 135 to win, five wickets down with 10 balls to spare, finishing 5/139 in reply to 7/134. Former Sydney Thunder allrounder Nicola Carey starring with an unbeaten 55 from 46 balls.

Another former NSW Breakers player, pace bowler Belinda Vakarewa (4-19) claimed all four of her wickets in the Powerplay and was on a hat-trick at one stage.

With the Sixers 5-30, and missing injured captain Ellyse Perry, Kapp demonstrated her world class with the bat scoring 55 not out from 40 balls, including eight boundaries and one six, to guide the Sixers to a competitive total.

Just three days ago, Kapp made her previous best WBBL score of 52 not out against the Melbourne Renegades.

The South African seamer then followed that up with three wickets in the Powerplay, combining with 17-year-old pace bowler Stella Campbell (1-10), to take 4-22 in the first five overs. Kapp claimed 3-23 from 3.2 overs.

Kapp’s partnership with Lauren Smith (23 from 31), worth 56, was a steadying force in the middle overs leading the Sixers recovery after Vakarewa wreaked havoc.

Sixers allrounder Erin Burns again showed her brilliance in the field taking a full-stretch diving catch, on the boundary, to remove Hurricanes captain Corinne Hall (28).

Alyssa Healy captained the Sixers in Perry's absence.
