Strikers defeat Sixers at Drummoyne Oval

15 November 2020

The Sydney Sixers have lost by 14 runs to the Adelaide Strikers and will attempt to break a string of four losses in WBBL|06 against the Brisbane Heat on Tuesday, at Sydney Showground Stadium

The Sixers did a great job to restrict the Strikers to 8/119 but were unable to chase that down at Drummoyne Oval on Sunday finishing 9/105.

Batting first, Adelaide was 6/56 in the 13th over and advantage was with the Sixers. Captain Ellyse Perry (3-14) claimed three of those wickets.

South African allrounder Marizanne Kapp (1-24) took the key wicket of allrounder Tahlia McGrath, for a duck in the first over, with a trademark delivery that cut back between bat and pad to hit the top of middle and off stump.

Dubbo pace bowler Emma Hughes (1-12) made her Sixers debut on Sunday and Madeline Penna (16) became her first WBBL wicket.

Wicketkeeper-batter Tegan McPharlin made a crucial 41 not out down the order to lead the recovery for the Strikers.

Strikers’ captain Megan Schutt starred with the ball returning 3-7 from four overs.

Ashleigh Gardner was substituted out of the match during the Sixers’ fielding innings with concussion.
