The Sixers have quickly bounced back from their loss against Brisbane Heat on Saturday with a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over the Adelaide Strikers on the Gold Coast.
James Vince, with 45 not out from 33 balls, and Jordan Silk (38 not out off 28) steered the Sixers to victory with 12 balls to spare on Sunday night. Josh Philippe’s 41 from 24 set the tone for the chase and took him to the top of the BBL|10 run-scorers list with 261.
The Sixers made 3/151 in reply to 4/150 with Vince passing 6,000 T20 runs. The men in magenta again grabbed the Bash Boost point and the win puts the Sixers top of the BBL|10 table.
A lightning start by Philippe and Jack Edwards (14) meant the Sixers finished the four-over Powerplay 0/47.
English seamer Jake Ball made his BBL debut returning 1-42.
Ball and leg-spinner Lloyd Pope (0-15) came into the side for Jackson Bird and Steve O’Keefe.
Dan Christian (1-22) claimed the crucial wicket of Australian short-form keeper-batter Alex Carey for 31 from as many deliveries. Jono Wells top-scored (66) for Adelaide.
Off-spinner Ben Manenti (1-29) and left-arm quick Ben Dwarshuis (1-19) were the Sixers’ other wicket takers.
Dwarshuis is equal leading wicket taker in BBL|10 with 11 scalps. He joins leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who was hard to pick for the Sixers on Sunday night taking 3-18 from his four overs, and Strikers' quick Wes Agar.
