Sixers allrounder Dan Christian smashed the second fastest BBL fifty in the Sixers' 38-run win over the Strikers at Blundstone Arena, Hobart, on Sunday night.
He reached his half-century from 15 balls and was dismissed the next ball after striking five sixes, including three in one over. West Indian Chris Gayle holds the BBL record at 12 balls.
Christian's innings turned the match contributing to 72 runs from four overs between the 13th and 16th. The Sixers defended 5/177 restricting the Strikers to 7/139.
Christian also claimed 1-25, but spinners Ben Manenti (2-23) and Steve O'Keefe (2-8) were the leading men with the ball.
Carlos Brathwaite snared the key wicket of Strikers' captain and Australian short-form wicket-keeper Alex Carey (9) with his first ball, through the gate, and celebrated with another signature move.
He finished with 2-23 from his four overs.
Christian's batting was complemented by 46 not out off 41 from acting skipper Daniel Hughes. He and Christian both passing 1,500 BBL runs.
The Sixers maintain their third position on the BBL|10 table.
