The Sydney Sixers needed the wicket of wicketkeeper-batter Rachel Priest on Saturday to give them a chance of victory, but it was not to be, with the Hobart Hurricanes clinching the win with 11 balls to spare.
The Hurricanes made 1/143 in reply to 4/139 from the 20 overs. It was the third loss for the Sixers in WBBL|06, but the Sixers maintain fourth spot on the ladder.
The Sixers meet the Adelaide Strikers at Drummoyne Oval tomorrow morning starting 9.30am.
Sixers captain Ellyse Perry was again the glue that kept the Sixers innings together with her third half-century of WBBL|06.
Perry finished 72 not out from 68 balls. A quick cameo from Erin Burns with 28 from 18 balls was a good boost for the Sixers in the middle stages.
Young gun Hobart leg-spinner Amy Smith, 15, claimed another two wickets.
A brilliant piece of fielding from super star captain Perry broke the Hurricanes’ opening partnership with a bullet-like throw from off her knees to run out Naomi Stalenberg (6).
