Strikers defeat Sixers at Hurstville

The Adelaide Strikers have defeated the Sydney Sixers by eight wickets at Hurstville Oval on Saturday.

The Sixers must now rely on other results and win Sunday’s fixture against the Strikers, at the same venue, to be a chance of making the finals of WBBL|05. Adelaide move to the top of the ladder with the win.
 
A professional bowling performance by the Strikers restricted the Sixers to 9/93 which the visitors chased down in 15.1 overs finishing 2/94.
 
New Zealand International Sophie Devine starring for the victors with 46 not out from 43 balls including two sixes.
 
The Sixers were 3/19 in the Powerplay and could not gain any momentum from that point on.


Former Sixer seamer Sarah Coyte returned best figures with 3-9 from her four overs. Australian opening bowler Megan Schutt (2-12) and fellow seamer Tahlia McGrath (2-19) provided good support.

South African allrounder Marizanne Kapp top-scored for the Sixers with 20.
 
Kapp then yet again produced at the front with ball in hand bowling Strikers captain Suzie Bates (1) on the fourth ball of the chase. She claimed 1-8 from three overs.

However, Devine and McGrath (30 from 35) took the game away from the Sixers therein sharing a 71-run partnership for the second wicket.
