After posting 7/142 batting first, the Sixers attack dismissed the Melbourne Stars for just 99 in 18 overs at the MCG to win The Qualifier on Friday night.
Quicks Sean Abbott, 3-23 from four overs returning from injury, and Josh Hazlewood claiming 2-14 with two searing yorkers, led the Sixers attack in another disciplined bowling performance, as they have consistently shown for the majority of the season.
Left-arm finger spinner Stephen O’Keefe was also outstanding with 2-22 from four overs. Left-arm quick Ben Dwarshuis (1-17) claiming the crucial scalp of leading run-scorer in BBL|09, Marcus Stoinis for 5.
Abbott now sits on 99 BBL wickets at an average of 21.
It was a tough night to find the boundary or clear it. The Sixers hitting just six fours and one six off the blade of Steve Smith (24) down the ground.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Philippe (34 from 28) top-scored for the Sixers.
It is the fourth BBL Final for the Sixers and will be chasing their first title since BBL|01.
