Six of the Best: WBBL Players to Watch

08 December 2017

In our latest edition of our Six of the Best series, sydneysixers.com.au is looking at the Sixers players to keep an eye on in WBBL|03

Ash Gardner

All-rounder Ashleigh Gardner was crowned WBBL|02 Young Gun after a stellar performance with the bat and ball. Gardner has been impressive in her two seasons in magenta, scoring a total of 627 runs and taking and 10 wickets. Her dynamite form earned her a spot in the Australian squad for the Ashes series. We hope to see her have another big WBBL season this year.

Lauren Smith

Signed on for her third season in magenta, Lauren Smith is destined to make an impact in BBL|03. Smith has been dangerous with her off-spin bowling claiming 19 wickets so far in her WBBL career and is an asset in the field. We can’t wait to see what she produces this season.

Erin Burns

Exciting new recruit Erin Burns is a menacing all-rounder which she has proven in the WBBL so far. Burns has blasted 441 runs in 29 matches and has also claimed nine wickets and 18 catches in the field. We hope to see her continue her electric performances in the magenta uniform in WBBL|03.

Ange Reakes

Angela Reakes is back with the Sixers for WBBL|03 and is set to cause some damage. Reakes has currently taken 5 wickets in the WBBL and has been a presence in the field with 8 catches. The all-rounder has been in terrific form for the ACT Meteors in the WNCL competition and we’re sure she’ll excel in magenta this season.

Em Leys

All-round Emily Leys will make her third appearance for the Sixers in WBBL|03. Leys has been brilliant in the field for the girls in magenta where she has taken nine catches. She has been great for Gordon in the Sydney Grade competition so far and we hope to see her shine in WBBL|03.

Beth Mooney Wicket

Carly Leeson

Young gun Carly Leeson came onto the WBBL scene last season where she took a wicket on her first delivery. Leeson has been a utility player in Sydney Women’s cricket completion for the Universities team where she continues to score runs and take wickets. We hope to see more of the young all-rounder this season.
