The Sixers Academy has defeated the Auckland Aces by 13 runs at Blacktown International Sportspark to progress to the Quad Series Final on Friday.

The Sixers Academy will play either the Thunder Development XI or Hobart Hurricanes in the Final, who meet Thursday afternoon.

The Final will take place at Blacktown International Sportspark as has been the case with all matches during the series this week. It was the second win of the series for the Sixers Academy after defeating the Thunder Development XI by five wickets on Tuesday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first on Thursday, the Sixers Academy set the Aces 166 to win, and despite Auckland at one stage being 1/122 in the 17th over, lost 5/30 inside the final four overs.  The victors posted 5/165.

The Sixers victory was set up by some composed batting from Australian Under 19 batsman Lachlan Hearne, 18, who showed all his potential with an impressive 61 from 42 balls.

Allrounder Nick Stapleton claimed 2-23 from his four overs and returned best figures for the Sixers Academy. He also took a great catch at deep square leg, low down to his right, to dismiss wicketkeeper-batsman Cole Briggs (50 from 46 balls).

The wickets of Auckland captain Craig Cachopa (67 from 46) and Briggs were key after the pair shared a 115-run partnership for the second wicket.

Hearne shared a valuable third-wicket stand with allrounder Param Uppal (46 from 31) worth 61.

Our XI: Jack Edwards ( c ), Luke Bartier, Param Uppal, Lachlan Hearne, Nick Stapleton, Tom Jagot, Aiden Bariol, Joel Foster, Peter Francis, Nic Bills, AJ Singh.
