Sixers Academy fall short against Qalanders

07 November 2018

The Sixers Academy were defeated by 9 runs in a nail-biting match against the Lahore Qalanders at Hurstville Oval yesterday.

The Qalanders won the toss and elected to bat first. Sixers paceman and Academy captain Ben Dwarshuis struck in his first over and put the Pakistani team on the back foot. Dwarshuis continued to strike in his three overs with another two wickets and finished with figures of 3-16.

Fast bowler Nic Bills was destructive with four wickets from his 20 deliveries. The right-arm quick completed his spell with 4-18 and also took a catch. Oliver Davies also claimed a wicket and two catches in the match. Bowlers Ryan O’Beirne and Tom Pinson took a wicket each to see the Qalanders finish all out for 116 runs.

Manly batsman Davies carried the Sixers Academy in the batting innings but unfortunately was unable to get the job done. Davies was not out for 61* runs off 49 balls. He unleashed some power hitting with 5 fours and 3 sixes in his batting display.

The magenta men finished all out for 107 runs and conceded their first loss of the T20 Academy Quin Series.

They now face the Hurricanes Academy today at Blacktown International Sports Park at 3pm today.
