The Sixers will host seven match days full of entertainment at the SCG, following the news that BBL|08 will be expanded to a full home-and-away season, with an additional two home fixtures for Sixers supporters to not only catch the action at the ground but also interact with their favourite players.

The expansion of the league will also see BBL|08 reach more fans across Australia than ever before, with FOX SPORTS and Seven covering all the Big Bash action. FOX SPORTS will broadcast all 59 matches, including 16 matches exclusively, while Seven will broadcast 43 matches across the season.

The Sixers’ first match of the campaign will take place on Saturday, December 22 at the SCG, a blockbuster clash against Perth Scorchers who have proven one of the Club’s fiercest opponents over the history of the League.

The first ‘Sydney Smash’ fixture against city rivals Sydney Thunder will be hosted at Spotless Stadium on Christmas Eve. The return leg, a guaranteed sell-out at the SCG will take place on Saturday, February 2.

Entertainment will continue to be at the heart of the Sixers BBL match-day this summer. A number of crowd favourite match day themes will return, including Christmas, with Carols on the SCG, the Beach Party and Sixers Can | You Can, the match aligned with the Sony Foundation’s Youth Cancer program.

The fixture schedule has also unveiled the return of the double-header match-day.

The first two home matches, on Saturday, December 22 and Thursday, December 27 will see the WBBL and BBL teams in action, as Sixers supporters can look forward to watching the WBBL team take on the Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades, while the BBL team take on the Scorchers and the Melbourne Stars.

Sixers General Manager Jodie Hawkins said, “We are very excited for another summer of Big Bash, and to host seven games at the SCG.

“It’s a great opportunity for our Members and fans to come out and support the teams at the best cricket ground in the country, and to meet some of their favourite players.

“We are really excited about some of the concepts we have been working on for our match day and can’t wait to unveil them on 22 December. It can’t come quick enough.”

Tickets for the BBL|08 are expected to go on sale in October.
