Winning the toss and bowling, Sixers captain Sarah Aley would have been pleased with her side's efforts, as they restricted a handy Hurricanes outfit to 8/138 off their allotted 20 overs.
Lauren Smith was the star with the ball, returning figures of 4/19 off her four overs, including the big wicket of Georgia Redmayne, who had earlier compiled a wonderful 71 off 44 balls. Hayley Silver-Holmes, Erin Burns and skipper Aley all chipped in with one each.
In reply, Erin Burns and Hayley Silver-Holmes broke the back of the chase with a flawless 116-run opening stand. The latter was first to be dismissed, soon after bringing up her half-century off 45 balls. Burns was the more brutal of the pair, however, hitting one six and six fours on her way to a 35-ball 50. Lauren Smith continued her fine work with the ball, ending 16*, Sara McGlashan unbeaten with her at the conclusion of the chase.
The Sixers WBBL campaign kicks off in just eight days’ time, and you can catch all the action from the 1st of December.
