Sixers star for state and country

A host of Sydney Sixers have performed strongly on the domestic and international stage in recent days.

Sixers WBBL skipper Ellyse Perry played a key role in guiding the Southern Stars to a 2-0 lead in their One Day International series against India on Thursday.

Perry scored 70 not out as Australia posted a total of 9/287 from their 50 overs, with Sixers wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy also contributing 19 runs.

Perry backed up her performance with the bat by picking up figures of 2/41 with the ball. Ash Gardner finished with 1/44 as India were bowled out for 227.

Earlier in the week, Gardner picked up figures of 1/34, Healy made 38 and Perry finished on 25 not out as the Southern Stars comfortably chased down India's total of 200 for an eight-wicket victory in the opening game of the series.

On the domestic stage, Sixers stars Sean Abbott (79) and Peter Nevill (57) combined for a 140-run partnership to give NSW a 159-run first innings lead on day three of their Sheffield Shield clash with Queensland.

Earlier in the match, Steve O'Keefe picked up figures of 2/30, Harry Conway finished with 2/49 and Abbott chimed in with 1/55 as the Bulls were dismissed for 243.
