Sixers ready for IPL action

06 April 2018

A host of Sydney Sixers players will be in action during the 11th instalment of the Indian Premier League, which gets underway on Friday night.

Sam Billings - Chennai Super Kings
Fresh from being named Sixers BBL MVP at Thursday night's Cricket NSW Awards, Billings will suit up for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL season opener against the Mumbai Indians on Friday night. Billings was previously a member of the Dehli Daredevils, but was picked up by Chennai in the IPL auction for USD $153,000. In 11 IPL matches, Billings has scored 226 runs at a strike rate of 134.52, including two half-centuries.

Ben Dwarshuis - Kings XI Punjab
Dwarshuis will take part in his first IPL campaign after he was picked up by Kings XI for USD $214,000. The 23-year-old left-arm quick caught the eye of Kings XI on the back of a breakout BBL season with the Sixers and will take plenty of confidence into the tournament.

Jason Roy - Delhi Daredevils
Roy was added to the Delhi roster after their successful USD $230,000 bid at the IPL auction. The 27-year-old Englishman made three appearances for replacement team Gujarat Lions in last year's IPL, scoring 59 runs at a strike rate of 147.50. Roy's Daredevils open their campaign against Dwarshuis' Kings XI Punjab on Saturday.

Carlos Brathwaite - Sunrisers Hyderabad
Hyderabad will be hopeful Brathwaite can make a major impact with both bat and ball during the tournament, after securing his services for USD $306,000. The big allrounder has spent the past two seasons at Delhi, scoring 95 runs at the impressive strike rate of 179.24 and taking 8 wickets at an economy rate of 8.77. Hyderabad take on Rajasthan Royals in their first match of the season on Sunday.
