Jack Edwards plays to leg.

Captain Jack Edwards has led the Sydney Sixers Academy to a five-wicket victory over the Thunder Development XI on Tuesday courtesy of a superb 93 from 53 balls.

Chasing 164 to win in the Sixers Academy second match of the Quad Series at Blacktown International Sportspark, Edwards played the ultimate captain’s knock sharing a 91-run third wicket partnership with Australian Under 19 batsman Lachlan Hearne, who made 48 not out from 28 balls.

Victory was achieved in the 18th over and the Sixers Academy finished 5/166.

Edwards reached the boundary nine times and cleared it on five occasions.

It was a quick bounce back for the Sixers Academy after losing in a Super Over to the Hobart Hurricanes on Monday.

Earlier, Thunder won the toss and elected to bat first posting 5/163 from their 20 overs.

Left-arm quick Ben Dwarshuis finishing with 2-29 from his four overs and the in-form Liam Hatcher taking 2-32 also from four.
