Aged just 18, the bowling sensation has already hit the headlines twice in 2018 and has also been noted as a huge future prospect for Australian cricket.
In January, Pope represented Australia at the U19 World Cup and produced a stunning bowling display, taking eight wickets to help Australia defend 127 against England in the quarter-finals.
More recently, in just his second Sheffield Shield match for the South Australian Redbacks, Pope became the youngest player in the history of the competition to take a seven-wicket haul, when he produced a magnificent bowling performance against Queensland. The leg-spinner finished with figures of 7/87.
“The Sixers are very pleased to have signed promising leg spinner Lloyd Pope,” Sixers Head Coach Greg Shipperd said.
"With spin an increasing weapon in T20, we have decided to bolster our options in this area and Lloyd has provided excellent results in his short career so far. We look forward to him joining our squad.
“I commend the SA supportive approach to our plan to sign Lloyd and trust that we will provide a suitable environment for his and our team progression”
Pope will join up with his Sixers teammates next month, ahead of the season opener against Perth Scorchers at the SCG on Saturday 22 December.
