It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the opening batter and wicketkeeper from Albion Park. Prior to signing her first professional Big Bash contract with the Sixers, Wilson only made her debut with NSW Breakers last week.
Despite defeat to Western Australia on her debut, Wilson helped the Breakers to victory in her second match, hitting 29 off 44 balls against Victoria.
The Australian under-19 representative hit 194 runs from her opening two Premier Cricket matches, form she will be hoping to carry into the Big Bash this summer.
The 19 year-old joins a squad with a wealth of experience and Wilson is excited to learn from her a teammates, a number of whom are currently representing Australia in the T20 World Cup.
Speaking on the signing of her first Big Bash contract, Wilson said she is grateful for the Sixers pathway which allowed her to reach this point.
"I was quite lucky to be the development rookie for the Sixers in WBBL|02 and in the train-on squad last season, which allowed me to experience that professional environment."
"The past two seasons have been great in terms of training with the girls and getting to know them, but now being fully-contracted and actually being able to hopefully play some games is really cool."
Jodie Hawkins, General Manager of the Sydney Sixers said "Tahlia is a young player who has been around the Sixers set up for the past few seasons so we are really excited for her to join the squad list for WBBL|04."
"Tahlia is a talented batter and a developing wicket keeper who adds enormous value to the Club both on the field and off the field.
"She always has a smile on her face and a really positive attitude, she’s just a pleasure to have around."
The Sixers begin their campaign at Junction Oval on Saturday 1 December against the Melbourne Stars, following which, the team will then have just under a week to prepare for a huge festival weekend of cricket at North Sydney Oval, where they face Perth Scorchers and city rivals Sydney Thunder.
