05 January 2021

Josh Philippe returns to his home state for the Sixers’ next clash of KFC BBL|10 against the Perth Scorchers on Wednesday at Optus Stadium.

The 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman says it’s always special to play in his home state, even though he proudly wears magenta.

“It’s a great rivalry, it’s against all my mates, it’s always good fun and it’s just really special to me because it’s one of the opportunities to play in front of all my family and friends,” Philippe said.

As he was during the BBL|09 title success last season, Philippe has been key for the Sixers. He has scored 261 runs passing 1,000 in the Big Bash.

His highest score of 95 from 57 balls came against the Melbourne Renegades on December 13, in Hobart.

Philippe played one match for the Scorchers in 2017.

v. Perth Scorchers

16 matches. 6 wins, 10 losses (the two teams have met three times in the BBL Final with the Scorchers winning twice, Sixers winning the BBL|01 Final)

The ladder-leading Sixers have named an 18-player squad for their eighth game of the tournament.

The squad will be trimmed to 13 players and the final 11 announced at the bat flip. Of this squad, only Nick Bertus and Tom Rogers are yet to make their Sixers debut.
