The Sixers Indigenous XI will take on the Thunder Indigenous XI at Reg Bartley Oval in Rushcutters Bay in three T20 matches on Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 December.
The tournament will continue the drive from both Sydney clubs to celebrate culture, grow participation rates and to help inspire the next generation of Indigenous women playing cricket.
Proud Indigenous woman, Sydney Sixers and Australian allrounder Ashleigh Gardner, from the Muruwari tribe, was full of praise for the concept when announced in September.
“I’m very proud of my Aboriginal heritage and I love playing cricket so anything that encourages Indigenous women to give the game a go is a great initiative,” Gardner said.
The team will be captained by allrounder Roxsanne Van-Veen who is joined by her daughter Bree Muldoon in the XI.
