Well, Sixers fans, it’s that time of year again. Summer is well and truly in the swing of things, and that means three things:
- Santa will be leaving a pile of goodies under the tree in a couple weeks time
- Over-eating to the point of a food coma every day is not only encouraged, it's expected
- BIG BASH TIME!
Ashes cricket during the day, Big Bash at night. There truly is no greater time to be alive.

When does Round 1 start?
Round 1 of the WBBL Daily kicks off THIS SATURDAY the 9th of December when the Melbourne Renegades play the Sydney Thunder at 1:45pm in the first game of an action-packed triple header at North Sydney Oval.
And what about our Sixers?
The Sydney Sixers are the reigning WBBL champions, having taken out WBBL|02 in a thriller against the Perth Scorchers. There is value all through the side, although the team at Sixers HQ have done some research, and as such - here are our top 3 Sixers Picks for round
1. Ellyse Perry (Captain)
2016/17 Points Average: 64.43
2016/17 Total Points: 902
Perry kind of picks herself, doesn’t she? Coming off a scarcely-believable double hundred in the recent Women’s Ashes, she is in the form of her life with the bat, not to mention her more than handy overs with the ball. If you’re looking to fill your side with players who will both bowl and bat, look no further than Perry.
2. Marizanne Kapp
2016/17 Points Average: 66.77
2016/17 Total Points: 868
Kapp was outstanding in WBBL|02, and is one of the first picked for the Sixers each round. Her bowling needs no introduction, whilst she contributes more than handy runs in the middle order. In Round 1, the Sixers tackle the Melbourne Stars. In the corresponding fixture last year, Kapp smashed 32* batting six, before opening the bowling to take 2/13 off her 4 overs. They say human beings are creatures of habit - therefore science suggests Kapp will do the same again?! Food for thought…
3. Ashleigh Gardner
2016/17 Points Average: 62.35
2016/17 Total Points: 1060
Ashleigh Gardner has been one of the biggest improvers in Australian women’s cricket in the past 18 months. The scariest part? She’s only 20. Last season, she took home the prize for “Young Gun of the tournament,” and oppositions know all too well how quickly she can take the game away if she gets going. A rock in the top order, and a wiley off-spinner, Gardner is a must have for any fantasy side.
SMOKEY ALERT: Clara Iemma
Iemma only announced her signing with the Sixers for WBBL|03 three days ago, but there is a lot of excitement around the young all-rounder. “Last season, Clara was named as player of the tournament at the U18 Australian Championships and recently signed with the ACT WNCL team. Sixers WBBL coach Ben Sawyer said he was “looking forward to working with Clara” to “see where she can take her T20 game.” Whilst yet to play a WBBL game, she is certainly one to watch in the all important early moving rounds of WBBL Fantasy cricket.
