Sixers and Thunder contest Women’s Indigenous T20 Cup

The Sixers met the Sydney Thunder in the first two matches of the inaugural Women’s Indigenous T20 Cup at Reg Bartley Oval, Rushcutters Bay, on Wednesday.

Despite losing both matches, emerging teenage talent Anika Learoyd top-scored for the Sixers Women’s Indigenous XI in both matches making 49 not out and 45.

It continued the excellent form the young batter has shown in McDonald’s Women’s Premier Cricket for Northern District scoring 287 runs in three innings this season, dismissed just once.

The third and final fixture of the series is to be played on Thursday morning at Reg Bartley Oval.

Seam bowler Lara Graham also returned the impressive figures of 4-18, from four overs, in the first match that the Sixers narrowly lost by two wickets. Thunder made 8/107 in reply to 4/105.

The Thunder prevailed by 16 runs in the second match after posting 3/141. The Sixers made 8/125 from their 20 overs.

Game three will start at 8.45am.
