In his return season with the Sixers, Jackson Bird became a BBL champion for the first time.
The former Test seamer returned to the Sixers for BBL|09 after one season with the Melbourne Stars, with whom he had spent the first four editions of the BBL.
Bird first made the move to the Sixers prior to BBL|05, spending the next three seasons in magenta.
During BBL|09, the ever-accurate fast-medium bowler claimed 10 wickets at the tidy average of 24. In his first match back at Perth Stadium against the Scorchers, Bird immediately made an impact with 3-33 from four overs.
At a state level for Tasmania, Bird was just as impressive. So much so, his performances earned him three major awards.
Bird received the Ricky Ponting Medal as the best Male Player in Tasmanian cricket. He was also awarded the David Boon and Jack Simmons Medals as the Marsh Sheffield Shield and One-Day Player of the Season.
He claimed the most wickets with the red ball for Tasmania during 2019/20 with 28 at 22.35. In the Marsh One-Day Cup, Bird returned 11 wickets in six matches including best figures of 6-25 against NSW.
Bird played nine Tests for his country between 2012 and 2017.
