Maddy Darke joins the Sixers for her first WBBL campaign in 2019.
The last 12 months have marked the most significant period in the career of the promising teenage wicketkeeper-batter.
In May, she signed her first NSW Breakers contract and shortly after was named in her first Australia A squad to tour the United Kingdom alongside fellow Sixer Erin Burns.
The 2018/19 season was very much a break-out season for Darke. She made her first three centuries in the top grade of Women’s Premier Cricket, all in successive weeks, for her club Universities.
Darke finished the season with 596 runs across the T20 and One-Day formats averaging 74.5 at the top of the order.
Over the past two seasons, Darke was also regularly selected for the Australian Under 19 Women’s team touring South Africa and New Zealand.
Darke will be the reserve wicketkeeper-batter to Alyssa Healy in WBBL|05, but such is her talent with the bat, she is more than capable to play a role in the XI exclusively as a batter.
She is one of three teenagers to sign with the Sixers for WBBL|05 along with spinner Alisha Bates and swing bowler Emma Hughes.
