Mickey Edwards signed his first BBL contract with the Sixers in November 2017 after he made his One-Day domestic debut for NSW in September that year.
He made his BBL debut in Geelong just after New Year in 2018 and has since played one other match for the Sixers, which was the BBL|08 semi-final against the Melbourne Renegades, narrowly lost with one ball to spare.
Despite his limited BBL experience so far, the tall fast bowler from Manly adds great depth to the Sixers’ bowling stocks.
In 2018/19, when his younger brother Jack burst onto the domestic scene, the pair became the first siblings to play together in magenta during that BBL|08 semi-final.
The Edwards brothers also became the first siblings since the Waugh twins, in 2004, to play a Sheffield Shield match together during the 2018/19 season.
He is also one of cricket’s most charismatic characters and came to fame before he was contracted with the Sixers!
During the 2017 New Year’s Test between Australia and Pakistan, Edwards captured the imagination of cricket fans when fielding as a substitute.
Between ferrying the drinks and filling other 12th man duties, Edwards became an instant cult hero with his long flowing blonde locks out in the field.
