Without Tom Curran, the Sixers may not have reached the BBL|09 Final, let alone claimed the title!
He was the Sixers’ leading wicket taker with 22 scalps and provided crucial runs at vital times to ensure the men in magenta stayed competitive in many matches they would go on to win.
Curran finished the season with 133 runs at a strike rate of almost 150, highlighted by two knocks in particular. His 43 not out from 21 balls to swing the match against the Scorchers in Perth and 35 from just 17 balls to force a Super Over against the Sydney Thunder.
Curran would also be the man to bowl the Super Over and clinch victory at the SCG. His season’s best, which were also his career best figures, came at the Adelaide Oval in January 2020 when he claimed 4-22 from 3.4 overs.
His performances earned him a place in the BBL|09 Team of the Tournament.
Curran unfortunately missed the BBL|09 Finals due to International commitments with England. The dynamic allrounder was also part of the 2019 England One-Day World Cup winning squad. The allrounder also plays with Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
Prior to the BBL|09 campaign, the England allrounder re-signed with the Sixers for a further three seasons meaning he’ll be in magenta until the end of BBL|11!
