Perry makes Ashes history

Perry produced a Player of the Match performance with an incredible batting innings to keep the Aussies alive against a strong English team.

Earlier on day three of the game, Perry made her maiden test century. However, the runs didn't stop there as she went on to make a historic double century for Australia. The score of 213 not out broke a 16-year-old record made by former Australian superstar Karen Rolton. Perry’s innings was full of class, hitting 26 fours and a six which provided entertainment to the North Sydney crowd.

The big moment caused confusion though when Perry smacked the pink ball for what looked to be a six, when she was on 194, but was later discovered to be a four. Nonetheless, she achieved the double hundred with a forceful drive to the boundary rope next over.

Not only was Perry impressive with the bat, she took the most wickets for Australia in the first innings. The three wickets included a skilful catch she took herself to rid danger player Sarah Taylor.

Sixers wicket-keeper Alyssa Healy was also at the crease when Perry reached her ton, which was a special moment between the Sixers teammates and friends. Healy added a handy 45 runs to the 448 Australian total including smashing 5 fours and 2 sixes.

The four-day match ended up a draw but Australia are still ahead with three games left. Australia plays England in the first T20 match at North Sydney Oval on Friday before heading down to Canberra for the final two games.
