The Sydney Sixers are proud to announce the re-signing of one of the game’s all-time greats, Ellyse Perry, with the star all-rounder committing to the club for a further three seasons.
One of the most influential and accomplished figures in the game, Perry has dominated the sport across all formats and stands as one of Australia’s most recognisable and celebrated athletes.
An inaugural member of the Sixers, Perry has played an instrumental role in the club’s success over the last decade, guiding the side to multiple finals appearances and back-to-back championships in WBBL|02 and WBBL|03.
With a resume that includes multiple ICC Women’s World Cups (2013, 2022), T20 World Cup titles (2010, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2020, 2023) and a Commonwealth Games gold medal (2022), the all-rounder has been a pivotal figure throughout the golden era of Australian cricket.
A 10x WNCL champion with the NSW Breakers, Perry additionally led the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) title in 2024, topping the run-scoring charts in the side’s championship-winning campaign.
Named in the WBBL Team of the Tournament seven times across the last ten seasons (WBBL|01–WBBL|05, WBBL|09, WBBL|10), the right-hander was deservedly included in the league’s Team of the Decade last season, voted to captain the hand-picked side.
Currently the second-highest run-scorer in WBBL history, Perry has amassed 4,689 runs – including two centuries and 33 half-centuries – in addition to 70 wickets, leading the league’s run-scoring last summer, with 424 runs to her name.
Perry joins a star-studded group of players already signed for the upcoming Weber WBBL|11 season, including Australian teammates Alyssa Healy and Ash Gardner, international star Amelia Kerr and domestic talents Lauren Cheatle, Maitlan Brown, Courtney Sippel and Caoimhe Bray.
The group is set to be led this season by recently appointed head coach Matthew Mott, with the World Cup-winning mentor looking to usher in a new era of success with the club.
Sixers General Manager Rachael Haynes praised Perry’s impact on the competition, saying her re-signing was a major boost for the club.
"Ellyse has been a key part of the Sixers since the inception of the competition and has played an incredibly important role in shaping the identity of our club over the last decade" Haynes said.
“Anyone who knows ‘Pez’ knows that she’s not just an outstanding talent, she’s an incredible role model for young cricketers and one of the very best ambassadors for our sport.
“Her performances on-field speak for themselves, but it’s her professionalism, humility, and experience that make her such as valuable asset, not only for our club but for the league as a whole.
“There are few players who our fans love more, and we couldn’t be more excited to see her in Sixers colours for another three years.”
Speaking about continuing her time with the club, Perry said she was grateful for the opportunity.
"It’s lovely to have the opportunity to continue with the Sixers. The club means so much to me, especially having been here since the inception of the WBBL" Perry said.
"I’ve been lucky to have been able to play alongside some special people and work with some amazing coaches and staff throughout that time.
"I’m excited for the season ahead with Motty joining the group and some wonderful young, exciting and super talented players on our roster."
