Starc continues sizzling form in Sri Lanka

SYDNEY Sixers’ fast bowler Mitchell Starc has continued his impressive form, assisting the Australian team to secure a 4-1 series win in Sri Lanka and almost took a hat-trick.

The Australians lost the toss and were forced to field, but the Australians finally made the breakthrough in the 13th over. Starc was on hand for the the first wicket, taking a catch off the bowling of James Faulkner to break a firm partnership of 71 runs and dismiss Dhananjaya de Silva over for 34 runs.

But Starc also impressed with the best figures of the night by bowling 3/40. His first wicket of the night was Sri Lankan captain Dinesh Chandimal who only managed a single run before clipping it straight to Australia’s wicketkeeper Matthew Wade.

Starc then helped clean up the Sri Lankan tail, clean bowling Dilruwan Perera and Suranga Lakmal one after the other, but unfortunately missed out on a hat-trick in front of the excited Kandy crowd.

Mitchell Starc has had a successful bowling campaign in Sri Lanka and was a huge contributor for the Australians during an outstanding series. Starc took 12 wickets altogether over five matches, with an economy of 4.78 and an average of 19.61.

Starc will now take his form into the two upcoming Twenty20 International games against Sri Lanka and join Sixers’ captain Moises Henriques. The first match will be played on the 6th of September in Kandy and the second to follow in Colombo on the 9th
