BBL|06 leading wicket-taker and Sixers strike weapon, Sean Abbott, played a crucial role in Parramatta’s victory against Western Suburbs. Abbott led the bowling attack with a five-wicket haul as Western Suburbs were dismissed for 95. He then showcased his all-round ability, top scoring for his side with 44 runs off 63 balls. Abbott added some spark to the run-chase with three boundaries including two fours and a six.
Sixers captain, Moises Henriques, created fireworks with some powerful hitting for St George against Hawkesbury. With two of his teammates reaching triple figures, Henriques’ added a valuable contribution of 38 runs off 24 balls in the final overs. He smacked five boundaries in his innings, continuing his form from the NatWest T20 tournament in England. With the ball, Henriques took one wicket as his team claimed a 70-run victory.
A quartet of Sydney Sixers stars were in action as Northern Districts took on Eastern Suburbs in a high-scoring affair. Northern Districts posted 276, with Sixers development rookie Henry Thornton picking up two wickets. Eastern Suburbs’ run chase got off to the perfect start courtesy of Sixers duo Peter Nevill and Nic Maddinson. Nevill notched 62 runs (off 83) with five boundaries, while Maddinson showed his aggression with 49 runs (off 39) hitting six boundaries, including two sixes.
Nathan Lyon returned from Bangladesh to continue his preparations for the highly-anticipated Ashes series. However, he was unable to take a wicket for Northern District as Eastern Suburbs posted a strong batting performance to claim victory with five overs remaining.
Despite only managing 3 runs, Sixers opener Daniel Hughes was on the winning side as his new club Mosman were able to get over the line against Bankstown.
