Starc injured in Aussie Test win

After a historic win in the first day night Test in Adelaide, Australian and Sixers star fast bowler Mitchell Starc is likely to play no further part in the Aussie summer of Cricket after suffering a stress fracture in his foot.

Sixers fans are unlikely to see Starc in Magenta this summer after he bravely batted through the pain to score the winning runs alongside fellow fast bowler Peter Siddle on Sunday night in the Third Test between Australia and New Zealand.

Starc was spotted after the Test walking in a moon boot following the victory although Australian fast bowling Coach Craig McDermott believes the injury is better than expected.

“The good news for us is that is better than first feared,” McDermott told ABC Grandstand, revealing that the fast bowler will not require surgery.

“He’s in a moon boot for three weeks and we’ll start working from there”.

The Chappell-Hadlee tour of New Zealand in February will now serve as the likely return to action for Starc, with Aussie selectors hoping he can prove his fitness ahead of the World T20 in India which is held in March 2016.
