Top-order batsman Daniel Hughes dominated with the bat as he went on to score a double century in Mosman's win over Sutherland. His score of 203 (234) was full of class with 31 fours and 2 sixes, carrying on his impressive JLT One-Day Cup performance ahead of the Sheffield Shield season.
Peter Nevill and Nic Maddinson chased down Hawkesbury's 332 total with a masterly opening partnership for Eastern Suburbs. Sixers wicketkeeper and reliable batsman Nevill flourished with 130 (166) runs and smacked 14 boundaries. Maddinson just fell short of adding another ton to his prospering start to the season with 94 (114) runs.
Sixers captain Moises Henriques made a handy contribution for St George's triumph over Blacktown with 29 (26) runs.
Lead wicket taker for NSW in the JLT One-Day Cup, Sean Abbott remains effective with the ball in hand for Parramatta. Abbott took 3/1 off only three overs in the game, proving hard to face. Ben Dwarshuis also made a return for Sutherland following a leg injury where he took one wicket in a tough loss against Mosman.
Sixers Academy players were also noble in their performance for their teams this weekend. Baxter Holt helped score the winning runs in Eastern Suburbs victory following Nevill and Maddinson's top scores. His 39 (38) runs featured 5 fours and a six.
Danul Dassanayke was exciting with the bat and ball. He took 3/70 for Mosman before scoring a handy 38 runs. Ben Manenti claimed a superb 5/63 figures in Sydney's draw with Campbelltown. Riley Ayre also took 4/109 and snatched a run out in an Randwick's loss to Fairfield.
