Rachael Haynes will continue to lead the Sydney Sixers into the future after the Australian and NSW great was promoted from her previous role as Head of Club at the Sixers to become the club’s General Manager.
Haynes quickly transitioned from on field star to off-field leader during Weber WBBL|09 and KFC BBL|13 as the Sixers broke several membership, attendance and merchandise sales records while qualifying for a fourth BBL Final in five seasons.
Cricket NSW CEO Lee Germon said the appointment of Haynes recognised her outstanding leadership in her first year at the club.
“The WBBL and BBL are part of a dynamic domestic sport and global cricket landscape and Rachael is perfectly placed to lead the Sydney Sixers as the club strives to be at the forefront of the industry,” Haynes said.
“Rachael impressed greatly in her role as Head of Club at the Sixers this past summer, showing leadership and strategic thinking that will help the club deliver for their players, members, fans into the future.”
Haynes said she was looking forward to continuing to drive the club forward.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my first season at the Sixers and I’m looking forward to growing with the club in this new role,” Haynes said.
“We have an incredibly strong and passionate base of members and fans to support our talented on and off field teams and I feel privileged to be able to lead the club as we move into WBBL|10 and BBL|14.
“This is an exciting time to be involved in cricket, and in particular T20 franchise cricket.”
Haynes will begin in the new role immediately.
