The Sydney Sixers have added world-class experience to their attack ahead of KFC BBL|15, signing fast bowler Kane Richardson on a one-year deal.
Magenta move for Richardson
Richardson makes the move to Sydney after eight seasons with the Melbourne Renegades, where he became one of the league’s premier quicks and a key figure in the club’s maiden title in BBL|08.
Across 116 BBL matches for the Adelaide Strikers and Renegades, the South Australian has claimed 141 wickets – the fourth most in competition history – sitting behind new Sixers teammates Sean Abbott (175) and Ben Dwarshuis (148).

Rachael Haynes, Sixers General Manager, said the experienced quick would be a valuable asset this summer.
“We're thrilled to welcome Kane to the Sixers.
“His record in the BBL speaks for itself, and to have someone with his experience and game sense join our squad is a huge boost.
“Kane will not only strengthen our bowling attack but also bring great leadership to our group. We’re excited about the impact he can have in magenta this season.
Speaking on his signing, Richardson said he couldn’t wait to pull on the magenta and play in front of Sixers fans at the SCG.
“I’m really excited to be joining such a well-run and successful club in the Sixers.
“There’s so much experience and talent in this squad, and I’m looking forward to playing my part in helping us chase another trophy.
“I can’t wait to call Sydney, and the SCG, home this summer, and to get out on the field in front of members and fans.”
The Sixers will kick off their KFC BBL|15 season against the Perth Scorchers at Optus Stadium on Sunday, December 14.
