Manenti locks in with Sixers

The Sydney Sixers have secured the re-signing of off-spinner Ben Manenti ahead of KFC BBL|15.

Manenti made his Big Bash debut in magenta during BBL|08 and went on to spend four summers with the Sixers before a move to the Adelaide Strikers. He returned to Sydney last season, reuniting with long-time Sixers leaders Greg Shipperd and Moises Henriques.

Fresh off helping South Australia claim a drought-breaking Sheffield Shield title, the 27-year-old is set to add further depth and experience to the Sixers’ spin stocks.

Sixers General Manager Rachael Haynes said Manenti’s return added valuable depth and experience to the squad.

“Ben has a great understanding of our environment and what it takes to perform in big moments,” Haynes said.

“He’s continued to grow his game over the past few years, and we continue to see how valuable his skill set, and competitiveness are to the group.

“We’re thrilled to have him back in magenta and look forward to seeing the impact he can make this season.”

Manenti has played 33 BBL matches to date and was part of the Sixers’ back-to-back title-winning squads in BBL|09 and BBL|10.

The Sixers will kick off their KFC BBL|15 season against the Perth Scorchers at Optus Stadium on Sunday, December 14.
