Erin Burns set to make Magenta return
Ahead of the T20 Spring Challenge next week, Burns has returned to the Sydney Sixers environment and will be available for selection.
The Cricket Australia (CA) Player’s Parental Leave Policy provides up to 12 months paid leave. However, players can return to the field any time after giving birth, subject to medical clearance.
Speaking on her return to the Magenta, Burns said she was excited to be back amongst the group
“I’m stoked to be back with the club and to start the transition back into playing.”
“Myself, Anna and our son Jack have been soaking up the newborn stage with Nina and now I'm looking forward to returning to training.
“I'm excited to use Spring Challenge as a bit of a barometer to see where my body is at ahead of the WBBL season.
“The club have been great in supporting my return, it feels great to be back having a hit, and I think Nina will be a great little mascot for the Sixers.”
Sydney Sixers General Manager Rachael Haynes said:
“On behalf of the Sydney Sixers, I would like to congratulate Erin, Anna, & big brother Jack on the arrival of our newest Sixer; little Nina.
“We are thrilled to welcome Burnsy (Erin Burns) back. Her leadership and experience will be an invaluable asset both on and off the field as we build towards the season. She's been a trailblazer her whole career, and we know she will pave the way for more mothers in their return to professional cricket.
“Erin will work closely with our staff to ensure we’re supporting her as much as we can in her return to play.”
Burns is contracted to the Sixers for the duration of Weber WBBL|11 and the T20 Spring Challenge which begins next Tuesday from 10am at North Sydney Oval, Sydney.
