The Sydney Sixers are delighted to announce that fast bowler Lauren Cheatle has re-signed with the club for an additional two seasons.
The left-arm fast-medium bowler began her domestic senior career with the New South Wales squad as a teenager, later making her WBBL debut in 2015.
A true NSW pathways product, Cheatle began her WBBL career with the Sydney Thunder, before she later joined the Sydney Sixers ahead of the 2017–18 season.
Cheatle’s attacking bowling earn her selections across T20I and ODI games for Australia, playing in her first match for Australia at just 17 years old.
Her dedication and hard work paid off in 2023 when she enjoyed a standout season: she impressed on the tour of England with Australia A and returned to strong form in the WBBL with the Sixers.
Cheatle’s return to the national side was capped with her long-awaited Test debut in December 2023 against India, becoming Baggy Green Test cap number 184 for Australia.
At domestic level, Cheatle is the NSW Breakers Captain and remains a cornerstone of the Sixers’ bowling attack.
Over her Big Bash career, she has played 94 matches and taken almost 100 wickets, including a best bowling figure of 4 for 20.
Sydney Sixers General Manager Rachael Haynes said:
“Lauren embodies everything we value at the Sixers — grit, talent, and an unwavering team-first attitude.
“Cheats (Lauren Cheatle) is adored by her teammates, a fierce attacking bowler and a fantastic leader on and off the field.
“We can’t wait to watch her continue to pull on the Magenta & take wickets!”
Sydney Sixers pace bowler Lauren Cheatle added:
“The Sixers have been a huge part of my career and I’m proud to stay on for the next two seasons.
“The Sixers have the best fans in the world and I’d like to thank them for all their support over the time I have been with the club.
“I believe in what we can achieve together, and I’m ready to continue to give everything in Magenta.”
The Sydney Sixers will host the Sydney Thunder this Sunday at North Sydney Oval.
