The Sydney Sixers have received a significant boost ahead of their Community Round fixture against the Hobart Hurricanes, with Australian star Steve Smith returning to the squad for the clash at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Smith rejoins the Sixers following his involvement in Australia’s successful Ashes campaign, where he once again demonstrated his class at the highest level of the game.
During the 2026 Ashes series, Smith scored more than 280 runs at an average of 57.2, including a century, and played a key role in Australia retaining the Ashes.
The experienced right-hander’s return adds depth, leadership and world-class experience to the Sixers line-up as the club prepares to celebrate Community Round in front of a home crowd at the SCG.
The Community Round match between the Sydney Sixers and Hobart Hurricanes will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, with the first ball scheduled for 2:05pm.
The remainder of the Sixers squad remains unchanged, with the final playing XI to be confirmed closer to the toss.
Community Round will see the Sixers celebrate grassroots cricket and the club’s strong connection with fans across New South Wales, with a range of in-stadium activities planned for match day.
