The Sydney Sixers are proud to celebrate a landmark moment in Big Bash League history, with Moises Henriques set to play his 150th BBL match, an achievement that reflects both elite longevity and an enduring impact on Australian domestic cricket.
Born in Madeira, Portugal, and raised in Sydney, Henriques’ cricketing journey has been one of steady progression and sustained excellence.
Henriques is set to play his 150th match tomorrow against the Sydney Thunder in the Sydney Smash and last home match of the KFC BBL |15 regular season.
A product of New South Wales cricket, he made his first-class debut for NSW in 2006 before earning international honours, representing Australia in both One Day Internationals and T20 Internationals from 2009 onwards.
His domestic and international careers have both been highly decorated across formats.
Henriques has played an impressive total of four Tests, 16 ODIs, and 24 T20Is, since his international debut.
Since the very first ball of the Big Bash League, Henriques has been a central figure, making his BBL debut in the first match of the league’s history.
Joining the Sydney Sixers in the competition’s early seasons, he has grown from a dynamic all-rounder into the club’s on-field leader, eventually taking on the role of Sixers captain.
Across his BBL career, he has been instrumental in multiple championship-winning campaigns, delivering performances that have helped define the Sixers as one of the league’s most successful franchises.
A genuine all-rounder, Henriques has built a reputation for delivering in pressure moments — whether stabilising an innings, accelerating at the death, or providing crucial breakthroughs with the ball.
His ability to influence games in multiple disciplines has made him one of the BBL’s most reliable and respected performers.
As captain, Henriques has led with composure and competitiveness, guiding a talented squad through high-stakes finals and tight contests.
His leadership style, grounded in culture and preparation, has played a key role in maintaining the Sixers’ consistently high standards over many seasons.
