Our Community Round is fast becoming one of the most fun, feel-good fixtures on the Big Bash calendar — and this year it truly delivered.
At its heart, Community Round is all about celebrating where cricket begins: our community clubs.
They are the engine room of the game, powered by tireless volunteers, passionate coaches, supportive parents and young players who turn up each week simply because they love cricket.
One of the biggest highlights was seeing more than 350 community participants take part in our inaugural community march to the SCG.
The colour, noise and excitement as juniors and volunteers proudly represented their clubs set the tone for a special day, which was capped off by sold-out community bays creating an incredible atmosphere in the stands.
The fun didn’t stop there.
Players got right amongst the action, with WBBL star Caoimhe Bray and BBL Supplementary player Josh Hazlewood fully embracing the Community Round spirit.
From meeting junior cricketers and chatting with families to taking part in match-day activities, both stars helped make the experience unforgettable for the next generation.
For many young fans, getting up close with their heroes was a moment they won’t forget anytime soon.
Community Round is about connection, inspiration and celebration — and this year showed just how powerful that can be.
We’re excited to build on this momentum and make it even bigger and better next season across both competitions.
A massive thank you to every volunteer, coach, parent and player who makes community cricket what it is.
And who knows — maybe one day we’ll be welcoming some of those juniors back in Magenta.
